I always thought that it would be interesting to experience laying on a bed of nails, and I got to at the Discovery Science Center. It was a little pokey, but the lady that was watching over it said that each nail tip ends up supporting 1.5 pounds of body weight and that is why it doesn't puncture the skin. That would mean that I was being supported by approximately 100 nail points.
